CASE STUDY – DPD Distribution Centre

share:

To meet the increasing demand for efficient parcel distribution in the Carlisle region, DPD commissioned the construction of a new, state-of-the-art distribution centre at Kingmoor Park. The project aimed to replace the company’s existing 42,195 sq ft facility at Kingmoor Park with a larger, more sustainable warehouse to improve operational capacity and efficiency.

Kingmoor Park Properties secured planning permission for the facility as part of its K2 development, designed to attract large industrial and logistics occupiers. Caddick Construction was appointed as the main contractor, with an anticipated build programme commencing in November 2022.

The distribution centre features a steel-framed warehouse incorporating office space, a service yard, vehicle parking, drainage systems, landscaping, and essential infrastructure. The design prioritises sustainability, achieving an EPC rating of ‘A’ and incorporating electric vehicle charging points and car-sharing spaces.

The project was delivered on schedule in August 2023, with DPD beginning operations in January 2024. The new facility significantly enhances DPD’s regional distribution capabilities and sets a benchmark for sustainable industrial development.

The successful completion of the DPD distribution centre at Kingmoor Park highlights the effectiveness of collaborative development and construction practices. The project not only meets DPD’s operational requirements but also aligns with modern sustainability standards, supporting the local economy and establishing a model for future industrial projects.
